(22) $7,335,546 for upgrades/improvements to the South Greenwood Industrial Park including, but not limited to, the improvement of utilities and other services needed at or within the Industrial Park;
Project Overview
The scope of this project entails utility upgrades and infrastructure improvements needed to make the South Greenwood Industrial Park (SGIP) a viable site location opportunity for prospective industries. Proposed utility upgrades include sewer service, extension of a high-pressure gas main, and relocation of two water mains that are necessary to install two entrances – one from Bypass 225 S and one from Hwy 221 S.
SGIP has been submitted for five projects in the last two years. These five investments totaled over $901,000,000 and 2,214 jobs. These projects went to competing communities that had more advanced sites with existing access and all utilities onsite.
SGIP completed the South Carolina Department of Commerce Palmetto Sites Program in 2023, leveraging a state grant to update environmental due diligence and master planning that are basic site location criteria. This project would address the Palmetto Site consultant’s recommendations to make SGIP more marketable, includingthe extension of gas and wastewater service.
