(24) $1,621,296 for upgrades/improvements to the Greenwood County Recreation complexes, including but not limited to, Youngs Park (Ware Shoals), Larry Traynham Center (Ware Shoals), J.C. Fox Boozer Park (Ninety Six), and The Wilbanks Complex (Greenwood);

Project Overview

To enhance and revitalize the Parks & Recreational complexes, a comprehensive renovation project is proposed. These improvements aim to align the facilities with current standards, enhancing their appeal and safety. The envisioned upgrades will not only meet current safety standards but also create a more attractive and secure environment. The improvements are designed to elevate the overall recreation experience for participants and spectators.

Ware Shoals Larry Traynham Center and Youngs Park

Both of these facilities are the oldest facilities in the county. These upgrades will promote pride in the Ware Shoals community.
Youngs Park – replaces fencing, new restroom/concession stand, LED lighting and upgrading playground
Larry Traynham – replaces windows, gym floor, new landscaping in front of building.

Ninety Six J.C. Boozer Complex

Renovations and improvements will provide enhancement to the community. Adding additional sports lighting will provide better playing surface, sidewalks will make it easier to get from gravel parking lots to complex, and replacing maintenance shop will keep equipment in good shape and out of weather.

Greenwood Wilbanks Recreation Complex

Upgrade the farmers market and complete several projects not completed in Phase I. Will increase the number of pickle ball courts allowing for increase play. Resurfacing tennis, pickle ball and three synthetic turf fields will provide quality play for next 10 years. Farmer’s market will get new air conditioners, insulation, flooring and a kitchen.
